Job summary

WSP USA invites motivated students to join our Summer Internship Program in Billings, MT as a Mechanical Engineering (Substation) Intern. This 12-week, full-time position starts May 17, 2027, with flexible start date and hands-on exposure to real projects alongside senior staff.

As an intern, you will support a variety of engineering tasks, learn mechanical engineering basics, assist with field work, preliminary design calculations, cost estimates, and maintain project documentation while

Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program with a graduation date of August 2027 or later.
  • Must be 18 years or older and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Interest in Electrical Engineering or related field and desire to grow in WSP’s projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Ability to take direction from mentors and leaders and to assist on projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office tools, and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of Mechanical Engineering and assist with field work.
  • Contribute to preliminary design calculations and analysis.
  • Assist in preparing final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
  • Help collect and maintain project documentation and training on assigned tasks.
