Job summary

Fluidstack is seeking an experienced Substation Design Engineer to architect and own high-voltage (HV) substations for campus interconnections, including HV yards and MV distribution substations. You will define layouts, bus configurations, and equipment specs aligned with utility standards.

As part of the role you will interface with utilities and consultants, ensuring designs pass reviews on the first submission and help standardize substations across sites for scalable deployment.

Qualifications

• HV substations design experience.
• Experience taking substation packages through utility review.
• Experience specifying transformers, breakers and switchgear at transmission class.
• Experience supporting substation construction and energization.
• Design standardization across sites.

Responsibilities

• Engineer substation designs for campus interconnection: HV yards and MV distribution substations in the reference design.
• Own the physical and electrical design: layouts, bus configurations, and equipment specs to utility standards.
• Interface with utilities and consultants: requirements translated into designs that pass review the first time.
• Standardize the substation: one design stamped across sites instead of bespoke yards.
