Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Richmond, VA is seeking a Substation Engineer to apply and expand your engineering training on high voltage and extra-high voltage substations and transmission projects.

You will contribute to design work, equipment specifications, and field verification, with occasional travel to client and vendor sites. The role offers a hybrid schedule (three days in the office, two remote) and a possible relocation package depending on location.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor of Science engineering degree with preference for Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace/Chemical and related coursework.
• Understanding of electrical engineering applications and project design fundamentals.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without CAD aid.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams designing HV and EHV substations and transmission systems.
• Prepare specifications for major electrical power equipment and installation services.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site coordination.
• Hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days.
• Relocation package available depending on location.
