Job summary

Fluidstack seeks a Senior Substation Design Engineer to own HV substation layouts and interfaces across multiple sites in New York. You will specify transformers, breakers, and switchgear at transmission class, coordinate with utilities, and drive design standardization end-to-end.

You’ll contribute to energization and field readiness while productizing design packages for repeatable deployments. The role emphasizes fast decision making, end-to-end ownership, and collaboration with power systems

Qualifications

• Designed HV substations with physical, one-line, and protection interfaces.
• Led substation packages through utility review processes.
• Specified transformers, breakers and switchgear at transmission class.
• Supported substation construction and energization activities.
• Productized designs for repeatable deployment and faster delivery.
• Bonus: 138 kV+ experience and grounding studies knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Engineer substation designs for campus interconnection: HV yards and MV distribution substations.
• Own the physical and electrical design: layouts, bus configurations, equipment specs.
• Interface with utilities and consultants to pass reviews on first pass.
• Standardize the substation design across sites rather than bespoke yards.
