Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group is seeking a Designer - Substation to support substation design projects across the QISG platform, performing routine 2D/3D Physical and/or Protection & Control design tasks with emphasis on accuracy and standards compliance.

Ideal candidates will have 4+ years in electric utility CAD/design for high voltage substations, and proficiency with CAD platforms including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, and SDS.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting & Design or equivalent; 4-year Eng Tech is a plus.
• Experience in drafting with a substation design background is highly preferred.
• Minimum 4 years in electric utility CAD/design for high voltage substations.
• Proficiency with 3D and/or smart design software: AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, SDS.
• Strong writing and verbal communication; ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Work on design aspects from project inception to completion on various substation projects.
• Utilize 3D and/or smart design software for substation design.
• Uphold quality control procedures to ensure high workmanship standards.
• Take ownership of the quality and accuracy of your work.
• Research information in catalogs, specifications, and standards.
• Learn and use document management systems and suggest improvements.
• Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices.
• Report potential project problems and propose solutions to stakeholders.
• Travel for project-related site visits as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
