Job summary

Quanta Services is seeking a Designer – Substation to support substation design projects across the QISG platform. You will perform routine 2D/3D CAD tasks under a Lead Designer, collaborating with engineers and drafting teams to deliver quality drawing packages for internal and client-facing deliverables.

Ideal candidates have an associates degree in Drafting & Design (or equivalent), 4+ years in electric utility CAD/design, and proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, and SDS.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Drafting & Design preferred; Eng Tech is a plus.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in electric utility CAD/design for high voltage substations.
• Proficiency with 3D/smart design software and CAD programs required.
• Experience in substation design and knowledge of utility design standards.

Responsibilities

• Work on design aspects from project inception to completion on substation projects.
• Utilize 3D and/or smart design software for substation design.
• Ensure quality control and accuracy of drawings and deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineers and drafting teams to maintain packages.
• Research catalogs, specifications and standards to inform designs.
• Learn document management systems and engineering practices.
• Raise project issues and propose solutions to stakeholders.
• Travel as required for project site visits.
