Job summary

Quanta Services is seeking a Designer – Substation to support substation design projects across the QISG platform. You will perform routine 2D/3D design tasks with CAD proficiency and collaborate with engineers to deliver high-quality drawings.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in substation design, familiarity with AutoCAD, Inventor and SDS, and a willingness to travel for project-related site visits.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Drafting & Design preferred; a 4-year Eng Tech degree is a plus.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in electric utility CAD/design for high voltage substations.
• Experience with 3D and/or smart design software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, SDS).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to work in a matrix environment.

Responsibilities

• Support substation design projects from inception to completion across the QISG platform.
• Use 3D and CAD tools to create and maintain design deliverables.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and drafting teams for client-facing drawings.
• Travel occasionally for project site visits or design reviews.
