Job summary

Texas A&M University – Commerce seeks a Student Worker to support the Executive Assistant in the VPRED Office. You will greet visitors, assist staff and students, update division webpages, schedule meetings, and help coordinate the spring student research symposium.

Work hours are limited to 19 per week during classes; may work full-time during breaks. Candidates must be currently enrolled undergrad students with a 2.0+ GPA and basic skills in Microsoft 365, Outlook, Excel, WordPress, and Adobe

Qualifications

  • Must be a current East Texas A&M University student with undergraduate status.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel), WordPress, OneDrive, Zoom, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors to the VPRED suite and relay information to staff.
  • Assist students, staff, faculty, and university community with general questions.
  • Update division webpages and collaborate on the student research symposium.
  • Initiate emails to students regarding applications and schedules.
  • Promote symposium using Adobe Creative Suite via MarComm.
  • Shred confidential data as needed, maintain orderly office practices.

Job Description Total number of hours to be worked per week cannot exceed 19 hours while taking classes (if employed by multiple departments, the total combined must not exceed 19 hours). Student workers may work full-time during interim periods (between semesters) and during the summer. Position is paid bi-weekly with amount being proportionate with experience and skills.


SUMMARY: The Division of Research and Economic Development at East Texas A\u0026M University, is seeking a Student Assistant. This role supports the university's research enterprise by assisting the Executive Assistant with various office duties, scheduling of meetings, greeting guests of the VP and staff, update division webpages as needed, assist with student research symposium in the Spring semester .


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Greet visitors to VPRED suite of offices and relay information to appropriate personnel

  • Assist students, staff, faculty, and university community with general questions

  • Run errands on campus as needed

  • Maintain and update webpages for Division

  • Assist with student research symposium during the Spring semester

  • Initiate emails to students regarding applications, instructions for presenting, schedules, etc.

  • Promote symposium using Adobe Creative Suite via MarComm

  • Shred confidential data as needed

  • Collaborate and communicate with supervisor

  • Other duties as required


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Education: Must be a current student for East Texas A\u0026M University. Seeking an undergraduate student for this position. Maintain good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher

  • Knowledge / Skills: Punctual. Very responsible and organized. Ability to work with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel), Adobe Creative Suite (may be trained), WordPress, One Drive, and Zoom. Detail-oriented tracking skills to update office forms as needed. Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to handle confidential matters and to be professional. Ability to work well with groups of people .

  • PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE: Preferred field of study would be business, business analytics, marketing. Preferred related experience would be a strong background of the computer programs listed above including knowledge of AI. Preferred skills would be typing, proofreading, writing legibly, and working with little direction. We prefer someone with a drive to excel and learn new skills.

Positions are limited to the amount awarded and must follow program guidelines


Graduate assistantships offer opportunities to teach, conduct research, or assist in academic departments while continuing your graduate education.


To qualify, students must:



  • Be fully admitted to a graduate program (not provisional or non-degree)

  • Be in good standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Be enrolled in courses each term of the assistantship

  • Meet specific credit hour and subject requirements for teaching or lab roles

  • Non-native English speakers must demonstrate language proficiency

  • Research assistants must complete Responsible Conduct in Research training


Work up to 20 hours per week, depending on the appointment


May have teaching or research assignments, or provide administrative support
