Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students in elementary to high school, supporting academic success, attendance, and positive behaviours.

You will train for 2-4 weeks and work with teachers to monitor progress, plan individualized support, and contribute to whole-class instruction and school initiatives.

Position is full-time with a living stipend and AmeriCorps benefits; start dates July/August 2025 vary by location.

Qualifications

• Coaching and mentoring students
• Experience with tutoring or classroom support is a plus
• Ability to monitor progress and adapt activities to student needs

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math activities by student level
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and analyze data
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces with teachers
• Support extended day and after-school programs
• Co-lead events recognizing student growth
