Position Title: Student Success Project Lead

Number of Positions: 1

Recommended Hours: 10-12 hours per week

Maximum Hours: 18.5 hours per week

Placement Period: Fall 2026 and Spring 2027

Supervisor: Dr. Jalal Ghaemghami

Position Summary

The Student Success Project Lead is an advanced student leadership position supporting strategic initiatives designed to improve student engagement, resource navigation, and success in foundational gateway courses. Working under the Academic Success Technology Coordinator, the Project Lead provides project coordination, supports outreach and communication strategies, contributes to workshop design and facilitation, develops student-facing resources, and helps coordinate activities across participating Care Units. This Level III position provides an advanced work-based learning experience for a student prepared to demonstrate significant independence, leadership, professional communication, project coordination, and technology skills.

  • Support the supervisor with organizing student-success project materials, schedules, and routine task lists.
  • Compile approved participation data, outreach records, and status information for supervisor review.
  • Prepare draft spreadsheets, presentation materials, and routine project documents using established templates.
  • Assist with student communications and follow-up using supervisor-approved language.
  • Help coordinate logistics for on-campus student-success activities and meetings.
  • Flag questions, exceptions, or issues for professional staff rather than making program or student-service decisions independently.
  • Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work.
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements.
  • Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work.
  • Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous RCC student employment or comparable work experience.
  • Previous peer leadership, student ambassador, orientation, mentoring or student-engagement experience.
  • Familiarity with Navigate360/EAB.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Teams, Canvas, or similar platforms.
  • Experience coordinating projects, events, workshops, or student activities.
  • Familiarity with RCC student-support resources.
Additional Information:

Federal Work-Study Compliance Notes

  • This FWS assignment is part-time, on-campus student employment and is contingent upon continued Federal Work-Study eligibility and available award funding.
  • FWS students may perform only the duties identified for the FWS assignment and approved by the supervisor; Learn & Earn responsibilities are not interchangeable with FWS duties.
  • Students and supervisors are responsible for monitoring scheduled hours so the student does not exceed the approved FWS award or institutional work-hour limits.
  • Timesheets must accurately reflect hours actually worked and be approved by the designated supervisor through the College's approved timekeeping process.

  • Supervision & Performance
  • The Student Success Project Lead reports to Dr. Jalal Ghaemghami and works collaboratively with Student Success and Retention staff and participating Care Units. The Project Lead may provide peer guidance and project coordination but does not hold formal supervisory authority over RCC employees. Students will receive regular supervision, performance feedback, and professional-development opportunities. Performance concerns will be addressed through RCC's progressive intervention process.

Advancement

The Student Success Project Lead may serve as an advancement opportunity for students who have successfully demonstrated Level II competencies through previous RCC student employment or comparable professional experience. Previous RCC employment is not required; students who already demonstrate the competencies required for Level III may apply directly.
