Job summary

Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado is seeking a Student Success Specialist who will build relationships with students, navigate barriers, and advocate for their goals. You will guide new students through orientation, provide individualized advising, and coordinate services to promote access, persistence, and degree completion.

This full-time role requires a Bachelor's degree and experience with diverse student populations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Experience working directly with high school and/or college students.
• Ability to provide individualized support and build one-on-one relationships.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Experience tracking outcomes and preparing reports.
• Proficiency with common software applications.
• Ability to collaborate with students, families, colleagues, partners, and four-year institutions.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and engage new students via orientation and transition experiences.
• Provide individualized student support and academic advising through meetings and follow-up.
• Support students facing barriers and connect them with resources.
• Use data-driven practices to improve outcomes and close achievement gaps.
• Develop family outreach materials to promote engagement and understanding.
• Collaborate with the team to plan registration events and outreach activities.
• Strengthen transfer pathways by coordinating events and guiding transfer processes.
• Support testing services by scheduling and proctoring assessments.
• Track engagement and contribute to program assessments and reports.
• Serve as a collaborative campus resource across departments and partners.
