Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, helping them improve academics, attendance and behavior. This entry‑level, paid, full‑time role includes 2–4 weeks of training and collaboration with teachers to support targeted student progress.

You'll plan personalized activities, track progress in City Year’s data system and contribute to school initiatives before, during and after school. City Year benefits include health and other programs.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps program

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math skills through diverse activities
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily activities and reflection
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, analyze and monitor student progress
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space with the teacher
• Support extended day and virtual programs before, during and after school
• Recognize and celebrate student growth in math, literacy, attendance and behavior
