Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member supports students in elementary to high school through coaching, mentoring and academic tutoring. You’ll work with teachers to track progress, lead 1:1 and small-group sessions, and assist with in-class instruction and behavioral supports.

We provide 2–4 weeks of training, relocation support, health benefits and a living stipend. This entry-level, full-time role offers hands-on experience in education equity and a pathway to further opportunities with City Year.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident; work authorization required.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to a background check and start by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities.
• Create and implement a behavior management plan.
• Collaborate with teachers and collect progress data.
• Support extended day and after-school programs.
• Contribute to engaging, safe classroom spaces.
