Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle, and high school levels, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors at school. You will receive 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year and work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way, supporting both classroom instruction and student development.

This entry-level, paid, full-time role focuses on data-driven progress tracking, collaboration

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.
• Coaching and mentoring students to improve academic outcomes.
• Collaborate with teachers on in-class and after-school activities.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress using City Year’s data system.
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support extended day and after-school programs and student clubs.
