Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking entry-level Student Success Coaches to mentor elementary through high school students. You will coach and support students to improve academics, attendance, and behavior, while partnering with teachers to implement targeted interventions.

The role includes 2–4 weeks of introductory training and ongoing collaboration with school staff, with a focus on inclusive, student-centered learning and community impact.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (DACA not eligible).
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to background check before start.
• Begin City Year by July/August 2025 (location varies).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and outcomes.
• Collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction and interventions.
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space.
• Support extended day, after-school, and virtual programs.
