Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is hiring an entry-level Student Success Coach and Mentor to support students across elementary to high school. You will coach, mentor and plan progress, working with teachers on in-class instruction and student support to drive attendance and academic growth.

You will receive training, supervision, and access to AmeriCorps benefits as part of a nationwide program aimed at helping students thrive in school and their communities.

Qualifications

• Experience not required; 2-4 weeks of training provided at the start of the year.
• Collaborate with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.
• Be eligible for AmeriCorps benefits and related programs.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily practice and reflection.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress in City Year’s data system.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
