Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member supports students to achieve academic success, improve attendance and develop positive behaviors. You will mentor students 1:1 and in groups, plan literacy and math activities, and work with teachers on in-class guidance and data tracking.

You will receive training, a bi-weekly living stipend, and benefits through City Year and AmeriCorps. Start date around July/August 2025, with a pathway to personal and community impact.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to earn academic success and improve attendance
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers in class
• Deliver 2-4 weeks of initial training and ongoing collaboration with school staff
• Support extended day and virtual programming and student clubs
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space and track student data in City Year’s system
