Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level Student Success Coach and Mentor as part of its AmeriCorps program. The role focuses on coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success, with support for attendance and positive behaviors.

You will plan and monitor progress, collaborate with teachers, and contribute to whole-class instruction and in-class student support. Training is provided at the start of the year to help you succeed.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (DACA status not eligible).
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students to support academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and assist teachers with in-class activities.
• Create a safe and engaging classroom space in collaboration with teachers.
• Support extended day and virtual programming and student clubs.
• Participate in training at the start of the year and work with partner teachers and school staff.
