Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member is a paid, full-time role focused on coaching and mentoring students across elementary, middle and/or high school settings to boost academic success and attendance. You will work with teachers on classroom support and student growth in a dynamic school environment.

As an entry-level position, you will receive 2–4 weeks of training, collaborate with staff, and contribute to programs that promote student achievement and engagement within the school community.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students to earn academic success and improve attendance
• Develop literacy and/or math skills varying learning activities by student level
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and participate in data reviews
• Support whole school initiatives and engage families through programs and events
