Job summary

City Year in Oklahoma is seeking an entry-level Student Success Coach and Mentor. As a City Year AmeriCorps member, you will coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors in school.

You will receive training, a bi-weekly living stipend, and benefits including health, dental and vision insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and additional City Year and AmeriCorps benefits. Start by July/August 2025.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; authorization to work in the U.S. is required and those with DACA status are not eligible.
• Ages 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• No more than three terms in AmeriCorps state or national program
• Background check required
• Ability to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to achieve academic success
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers with class instruction
• Create engaging activities to develop literacy, math and behavioral skills
• Collaborate with school staff and participate in reviews of student data
• Support extended day and in-school programs to boost engagement
