Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member serves as a student success coach and mentor in Rhode Island, supporting elementary to high school students with academic achievement, attendance, and positive behaviors. Training provided, with ongoing collaboration with teachers and school staff to monitor progress and deliver targeted support.

Role includes 2–4 weeks of training, engagement with families, and participation in city-wide education initiatives. Full-time AmeriCorps position with benefits and stipends.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching and mentoring students preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support literacy and math skill development with varied activities.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and data.
• Help create a safe, engaging classroom space and support school initiatives.
