City Year AmeriCorps members in Rhode Island are recruited as entry-level, paid, full-time staff focused on coaching and mentoring students to improve academic success and attendance. You will work with teachers and staff to support classroom instruction and student development, starting with comprehensive training.

This role emphasizes a safe, engaging classroom environment and ongoing progress monitoring.

Qualifications

• Coaching and mentoring students to support academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and growth.
• Collaborate with teachers to support in-class instruction and student guidance.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math activities tailored to each student.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies.
• Foster interpersonal skills and positive classroom culture.
• Collect and analyze student progress data with teachers.
• Support school engagement initiatives and after-school programs.
