Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level AmeriCorps member to coach and mentor students across grade levels. You’ll support literacy and math growth, attendance, and behavior, while partnering with teachers to monitor progress in City Year’s data system.

The role emphasizes building safe, engaging classrooms and contributing to school-wide initiatives, serving a diverse student population and communities city-wide.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen or permanent resident status required.
• Ages 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or HS diploma, some college, or college degree.
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms previously.
• Must pass a background check.
• Begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities and track progress.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies in classrooms.
• Foster interpersonal skills through structured activities and reflection.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, and review student data.
• Support whole-school engagement events and programs with students and families.
