Job summary

Drexel University is seeking an Academic Advisor to be the primary contact for students from admission through graduation. The advisor will support students with planning, registration, and progress tracking, ensuring timely and respectful communication and guiding them to Drexel resources.

The position emphasizes proactive advising, data documentation in AVT, and acting as the liaison between students and faculty/administration to promote success and retention.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in higher education or related setting
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with Banner or Hyperion or similar systems beneficial
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records and FERPA compliance
• Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
• Excellent customer service orientation and proactive problem solving

Responsibilities

• Initiate and maintain consistent communication with assigned students each term
• Document and track student encounters in advising software (AVT)
• Coordinate plan of study and assist with course registration
• Monitor academic progress and notify students of important dates
• Provide information and options to help students make informed decisions
• Create and update student plans of study and course sequencing
• Counsel students on Web-registration and refer to Drexel resources as needed
• Track progression and assist with program requirements
• Troubleshoot student issues and connect to appropriate offices
• Serve as liaison between students and faculty/administration
