Job summary

East Side House Settlement is seeking a Student Advisor for the GWHS program in New York. You will manage a caseload of about 60–70 students, conducting attendance, academic, and social-emotional outreach, with intake interviews and referrals to services as needed.

You will collaborate with guidance counselors and teachers, maintain detailed student records, and participate in trainings and community activities. Evening and some remote work are required; DOE clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or BSW with youth services experience.
• Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.
• Team-oriented and able to multi-task.
• Interpersonal skills and time management ability.
• Knowledge of community service development.

Responsibilities

• Be primary contact for a caseload of 60-70 students.
• Conduct daily attendance, academic, and social-emotional outreach.
• Carry out intake interviews with students and families.
• Refer students to academic and support services as needed.
• Consult with guidance counselors on credits and graduation dates.
• Provide feedback to students on performance with teachers.
• Maintain student charts and records to track milestones.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and staff development, including virtual.
• Meet with caseload in group or individual settings using remote platforms.
• Conduct workshops and groups for caseload.
• Educate students and families about colleges, FAFSA, and applications.
• Discuss employment opportunities with students.
• Provide informal counseling for social-emotional development.
• Document all interactions in Salesforce, Google Suite, and data systems.
• Participate in civic/community-building activities via East Side House.
• Arrange field trips and extracurricular activities.
• Manage alumni events and data tracking.
• Maintain contact with alumni via social networks.
• Support and participate in special student projects.
