Job summary

East Side House Settlement in the Bronx is seeking a Student Advisor to support high school students through the Learning to Work program at Mott Haven Community High School. You will be the primary advisor for a cohort, provide regular coaching, and help students set SMART goals.

The role requires collaboration with families, teachers, and partner agencies, plus record-keeping and outreach to ensure attendance and success. A B.A./B.S.W.

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S.W. with at least two years’ youth-related work.
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with school-aged youth, educators, families and diverse communities.
  • Experience in school-based settings and knowledge of community organizing and youth development.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Primary advisor for assigned cohort of students.
  • Conduct regular one on one sessions with students, at least twice a month.
  • Support students to create SMART goals and to work toward implementation.
  • Collaborate with families, school staff, and partners to develop individualized plans.
  • Manage attendance outreach and document interactions.
  • Organize activities/events meeting student needs.
