Job summary

Ascension Health in Central Indiana is seeking a nursing student to provide bedside care at Ascension St. Vincent. The role supports hands-on learning while directly caring for patients under supervision, bridging classroom theory with clinical practice.

Accepted or enrolled nursing students will work days or nights, PRN, gaining experience in an Adult Med Surg and Progressive Care setting within Ascension St. Vincent. A strong focus on safety and teamwork is required.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled or accepted into a nursing program upon date of hire/transfer.
• High school diploma/GED required.
• One or more of the following credentials: BLS Provider or Basic Life Support instructor certification.

Responsibilities

• Delivers direct bedside care while concurrently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• Engages in direct bedside patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to bridge classroom theory with practice.
• Collaborates with a Preceptor to deliver safe, high-quality patient care while learning clinical workflows.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Acquires hands-on clinical competency by delivering direct bedside care while concurrently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.

• Engages in direct bedside patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to bridge the gap between academic theory and clinical practice.

• Collaborates closely with a dedicated Preceptor to deliver safe, high-quality patient care while gaining knowledge of clinical workflows.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):

• One or more of the following:

• Instructor specializing in Basic Life Support obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Preferred Credential(s):

• Nurse Aide.

Education

• High school diploma/GED required. Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of date of hire/transfer.
