Job summary

Ascension St. Vincent in Central Indiana seeks a student nurse to deliver direct bedside care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse while enrolled in an accredited nursing program.

You will work with a Preceptor to learn and apply clinical workflows, bridging classroom theory and real patient care experiences. The role supports Adult Med Surg and Progressive Care Units, with a schedule that includes days or nights and PRN shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be accepted into or enrolled in a nursing program by date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days.

• Deliver direct bedside care under supervision of a Registered Nurse to bridge theory and practice.
• Collaborate with a dedicated Preceptor to provide safe, high‑quality patient care and learn clinical workflows.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Acquires hands-on clinical competency by delivering direct bedside care while concurrently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• Engages in direct bedside patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to bridge the gap between academic theory and clinical practice.
• Collaborates closely with a dedicated Preceptor to deliver safe, high-quality patient care while gaining knowledge of clinical workflows.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • One or more of the following:
    • Instructor specializing in Basic Life Support obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Preferred Credential(s):

• Nurse Aide.

Education

• High school diploma/GED required. Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of date of hire/transfer.
