UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Student Nurse Extern I (SNE I) to join the Cardiology and Oncology Stepdown Unit (COSU). The externship offers immersive clinical experience under RN supervision, with a focus on foundational nursing skills and patient care within a 24/7 environment.

The role supports admitted patients and families, under supervision, and aims to prepare the incumbent for licensure as a registered nurse. Onsite temporary full-time position with rotating schedule.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current enrollment in an accredited prelicensure nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months.
• Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
• BLS certification.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written).
• Ability to organize and prioritize patient care tasks.
• Basic computer skills.
• Lift and carry 40–50 lbs., frequent standing.

Responsabilidades

• Observe, collect, and document patient information and report changes to nurse or provider.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide care/treatments per care plan, including vital signs, specimen collection, wound care, and ROM exercises.
• Assist with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Maintain unit cleanliness, restock supplies, and assist with equipment.
• Reinforce patient teaching and document understanding.
• Assist in examinations and procedures as needed.
• Support the learning environment under RN guidance.

Educación
