Job summary

Horizons Elementary in Olympia, WA, is seeking a Paraeducator for the 2026-27 school year. The role supports students with special needs under teacher supervision, may involve 1:1 or small group work, and includes behavior and safety support.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with an Associate’s degree or ParaPro certification preferred. 6.5 hours/day, 5 days/week, 189 days/year; union position with North Thurston Public Schools benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and/or ParaPro certification.
• Experience working with diverse families and communities preferred.
• Ability to follow directions, stay organized and punctual.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with assessment, curriculum implementation and student supervision.
• Provide instructional support and tutoring in small groups or 1:1.
• Help with daily tasks and safety, including behavior management and documentation.
