Job summary

Olympia School District is hiring a Paraeducator-Special Education Preschool to assist in supervising and instructing general and special education preschool students, addressing academic, social-emotional, and functional goals across settings.

The role is a continuing, part-time position working 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (2.4 hours daily), 180 days per year plus 10 paid holidays. Vacation leave and holidays are provided under the CBA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ETS exam or college credits required.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
• Experience with young children who qualify for special education.
• First Aid and CPR training may be required.
• Willingness to obtain Type II License and Food Handlers Permit.
• Right Response Certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated staff with implementing IEP-related plans and goals.
• Create educational materials to support student progress toward IEP objectives.
• Collect and communicate data to evaluate student progress.
• Administer first aid and address health care needs as required.
• Maintain student files and help develop educational programs for eligible students.
• Monitor student safety across settings and accommodate curriculum as needed.
• Support other staff to implement student programs and plans.
• Collaborate with staff to evaluate progress and adjust objectives.
• Contribute to a positive learning environment and maintain confidentiality.
• Promote student independence and participate in team trainings.
