Job summary

Olympia School District is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator to assist certificated staff with IEP implementation, data collection, and student support. The position involves health-care support, data management, and collaboration with teachers and specialists in both in-person and online settings.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and any approved paraeducator credentials or college credits.

Qualifications

• Perform basic clerical functions and arithmetic; use standard office equipment; write and speak with proper grammar.
• Create effective visual supports, student schedules, and reward systems.
• Address health care needs including personal hygiene and toileting as necessary.
• Implement instructional techniques for students with significant needs; modify curriculum as required.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and meet deadlines.
• Collaborate across teams including administrators, teachers, and paraeducators.
• Learn and apply de-escalation and district-approved restraint techniques when needed.
• Use OSD-adopted curricula and individualized student plans consistently.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated staff with IEP plan development and related assessments.
• Create educational materials to support student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
• Collect data to help evaluate student progress and inform instruction.
• Administer first aid and address health care needs as required.
• Maintain student files to support educational planning and eligibility.
• Monitor student safety and implement necessary accommodations in learning settings.
• Support other staff to implement student programs and tasks as needed.
• Collaborate to evaluate progress and share information with teams.
• Contribute to a positive learning environment and protect student confidentiality.
• Facilitate student independence and participate in team trainings to improve skills.
