Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools, Home Choice Academy in Vancouver, WA, is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator to support students under the supervision of the instructor and building principal.

The position runs 6 hours per day (8:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., 30-minute lunch), 190 days per year, with required state training and district procedures. Qualifications include a high school diploma and options to meet via ParaPro, college credits, or an apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Meet one or more: ETS ParaPro score 455+, Associate degree or higher, 72 qtr credits / 48 sem credits at 100 level+, Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program
• If qualifications are not met, candidate screened out
• Upon hire, state required training is completed through Evergreen School District
• Position is Student Support; permanent unless noted otherwise
• Salary placement at minimum of classification; prior service may earn credit

Responsibilities

• Provide special education services and supports to eligible students
• Offer one-to-one and small‑group instruction as directed
• Maintain a productive learning environment aligned to goals
• Assess progress and collect data toward IEP goals
• Assist in organizing instructional materials and routines
• Attend trainings to stay current on student needs
• Follow behavior management plans and collaborate with staff
