Job summary

University Dining at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is seeking a part-time Cashier for the Lower DeBot Marketplace. You will ring up sales, assist customers, and help with front-of-house tasks while maintaining accurate cash handling.

This student role requires at least 8 hours per week, with two night or weekend shifts monthly, and completion of mandatory trainings. You must be enrolled part-time with a good academic standing and pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per week with at least two night/weekend shifts per month.
• Have excellent math skills; specifically dealing with money and making change.
• Be able to handle working in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand on hard floors for an extended period of time.
• All applicants must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (GPA 2.0+).
• Applicants must pass a criminal background check (only criminal activity directly pertaining to the position description will be evaluated).
• Successful applicants must pass all UWSP mandatory trainings along with department-specific trainings during onboarding.
• Upon completion of an eight-week probationary period, a performance evaluation will be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Managing transactions with customers at the cash register.
• Scanning goods and ensuring pricing is accurate.
• Collecting payments whether in cash or card.
• Issuing receipts, refunds, or change.
• Cross-selling products and introducing new merchandise items.
• Answering customer questions and providing a professional experience.
• Following reporting procedures if theft is observed.
• Attending mandatory staff meetings.
