Job summary

Johnson County Community College seeks an Accounting Specialist I to support Student Account Services by recording payments, balancing the cash drawer, and processing refunds and adjustments in line with Title IV regulations. The role requires attention to FERPA, PCI, and GLB guidelines and strong customer service to students, parents, and staff.

Reporting to the Assistant Bursar, you will handle inquiries, resolve issues, and maintain timely deposits, while assisting with reports and ongoing

Qualifications

• Requires accurate cash handling and daily balancing.
• Experience with student accounts or billing preferred.
• Ability to assist with reports and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Record and reconcile student and departmental payments accurately.
• Balance the cash drawer daily and process refunds or adjustments.
• Process returned payments and communicate with students about items.
• Generate reports and maintain compliance with FERPA and PCI policies.
• Support staff with deposits, processes, and inquiries from students.
• Maintain phone and email coverage and assist with issue resolution.
