Job summary

Palmer Theological Seminary of Eastern University is seeking an entry-level Recovery Representative to support the student accounts teams in pursuing past-due and delinquent balances. You will research, analyze and negotiate payment arrangements while maintaining trustful relationships with students and families.

You will counsel students on options, coordinate with in-house and external collection vendors, and produce timely reports to management.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position that prefers a Bachelor’s Degree with 0-2 years in higher education, customer service and contact center.
• Attention to detail with problem solving and ability to work in groups or independently; confidentiality matters.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential to interact with students, parents, and college personnel.
• Must understand and support the University’s Christian mission.
• Must attend trainings, orientations, open houses and workshops off-site as required.

Responsibilities

• Use system resources to identify, review, assign and contact consumers with past due/delinquent balances via all contact points.
• Counsel students in University collections on payments, arrangements and Private Alternative Loan options.
• Assist student accounts staff with in-house collections and external vendors; maintain timely reports on collections.
• Execute in-house collections processes, including printing letters, sending emails, and outbound calls.
• Provide quarterly reports to the Director of Student Accounts.
• Serve as contact for collection company inquiries and meet with collection representatives/vendors as needed.
• Assist with department calls, emails and other special projects as directed by management.
• Maintain a pleasant demeanor and deliver excellent customer service in a high-pressure environment.
