Job summary

Montgomery College is seeking a Full-time Student Account Specialist I for the Rockville Campus with coverage across campuses as needed. The role focuses on cashiering, student payments, and front-line customer service within the Office of Business Services.

Responsibilities include processing payments, reconciling cash, assisting students with payment plans, and maintaining accurate records in compliance with policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Two years of experience handling financial transactions or supporting student accounts in education or banking.
• Experience providing customer service in high-volume, multi-channel environment.
• Proven proficiency in reconciling cash, preparing deposit reports, and using financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Accept and process student and departmental payments via cash, check, credit card, ACH, wire transfer, and online systems.
• Prepare and reconcile daily cashiering reports, ensure cash drawer accuracy, and secure deposits.
• Maintain accurate student and financial records per guidelines; process returns, chargebacks, and declined payments.
• Monitor transactions for anomalies and ensure PCI-DSS and college policies compliance.
• Provide first-line support to students, parents, and staff on billing, payments, holds, and refunds.
• Assist students with payment plans, account discrepancies, and understanding financial obligations.
• Help students navigate self-service portals, third-party billing forms, and tax document requests.
• Participate in outreach on financial literacy, holds, and onboarding.
• Coordinate with financial aid to support Title IV refunds and eRefund enrollment.
• Assist in testing upgrades to cashiering and receivable systems.
• Support audits with documentation or transaction history.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
