Montgomery College, Central Services in Rockville, seeks a Full-Time Financial Aid Specialist to advise and assist students in federal, state, and institutional aid programs. The role includes award processing, policy interpretation, and outreach activities in a busy office environment.

The position requires an Associate degree and 3 years of experience in a related office, with strong customer service, communication, and data management skills; hybrid schedule with some evenings and Saturdays

Qualifications

• Associate degree and 3 years in a student financial aid office.
• Knowledge of federal/state/institutional aid policies.
• Ability to interpret complex regulations for needs analysis.
• Experience with student financial aid data management systems.
• Strong customer service and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy office.

Responsibilities

• Advise students and family regarding financial aid regulations and eligibility.
• Support administration of the financial aid program and processes.
• Assist students with the application process.
• Perform program fund reconciliations and audits as needed.
• Assist with the Federal Work Study Program.
• Evaluate applications to determine eligibility and award aid.
• Escalate exceptions to higher level staff as needed.
• Participate in outreach activities and maintain reports.
