Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University seeks a Student Account Specialist to support student accounts and provide timely, accurate customer service by phone, email, and in person. The role includes processing tuition waivers, auditing account activity, and reviewing refunds to ensure precise billing and collections.

The position is primarily on-campus with potential for remote flexibility, typical hours Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Customer service experience.
• Working knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping, or other financial services.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word & Excel)
• Familiarity with computers in a Windows environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective counsel and guidance on student accounts by responding professionally and accurately to inquiries.
• Process tuition waivers, provide receipts/statements/audits and review refund requests.
• Perform a range of administration tasks to support Student Accounting procedures and policies such as report review.
