Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services seeks a skilled welder capable of certifying in SMAW or GMAW on specified plates and meeting certification standards. The role involves layouts, welding of structural components, and the use of multiple welding methods across several positions.

The position includes assembling piping systems and pressure vessels, following blueprints and metallurgy. Applicants should be prepared for safety requirements and on-site work in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Capable of certifying on single process plate and proficient in SMAW or GMAW welding.
• May require x-ray qualities for certification.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe or related materials according to specifications.
• Plans layouts, assembly, and welding using knowledge of geometry and metal properties.
• Uses various welding processes as required (GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW).
• Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together in different positions.
• Welds and bolts components to form piping systems, plates, tubes or structural shapes.
• Connects welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, and pulse as specified.
• Starts power supply and strikes arc to deposit metal and join edges.
• Guides electrode or gun to control bead fusion and weld depth.
• Performs cleanup, repairs, and minor maintenance of tools and joints.
• Assists in lifting, positioning and securing materials as needed.
