UDR is seeking qualified candidates for a Structural Senior Design Engineer position to support an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project.

Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and leadership. This role oversees a specific area, ensuring technical accuracy in project execution across all phases, and performs engineering assignments of advanced complexity as a lead on assigned projects.
- Under general supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer, serve as an Area Lead providing guidance and supervision to other engineers and designers.
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to complex problems in accordance with project requirements.
- Develop and review specifications and design criteria.
- Perform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment, and systems; solve technical problems of advanced complexity.
- Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients.
- Execute work in compliance with the Project Quality Plan and procedures.
- Carry out work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
- Develop and review estimates, schedules, and progress reports, including effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting.
- Establish, control, and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts.
- Provide technical support for equipment and material procurement and subcontracting activities, including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, and vendor submittal reviews.
- Support construction activities, including responses to RFIs and field changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Job Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering and at least 10 years of related experience.
- Professional Engineer license.
- Knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards.
- Effective communication skills with project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Technical knowledge necessary to complete the job, including advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards.
- Ability to work in compliance with local, state, and federal codes, statutes, and guidelines.
- Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently within time constraints.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and presentation programs.
- Significant experience with EPC services on large industrial projects, utilizing engineering analysis, 3D modeling, and CAD tools in a multidisciplinary environment.
Discipline Specific Job Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of performing calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures.
- Proficiency with structural design software such as STAAD, STAADPro, RISA3D, and Mathcad.
- Experience analyzing complex structures, wind and seismic loading, dynamic analysis, and computer modeling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of material availability and costs.
- Experience designing systems for nuclear facilities under ASME NQA-1.
- Leadership in managing large projects.
- Proficiency in project setup, schedule development, and project close-out.
- Practical field experience.
- EPC project experience in industries like nuclear, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotech.
