Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Structural Engineer II in Houston to join our Facilities Engineering group. The role involves project engineering tasks, independent decision-making, and adherence to codes and standards.

You will develop practical solutions, prepare drawings, specifications, and calculations, and oversee work for compliance. The position requires a Civil/Structural ABET-accredited degree, 2+ years of structural experience, and EIT or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• 2+ years of experience as a structural engineer.
• EIT required, or ability to obtain in 6 months.
• Track record of successful project completion.
• Ability to work independently and with others.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, RISA 3D, Navisworks, Bluebeam REVU.
• Understanding 2-D and 3-D drafting techniques.
• Familiarity with design codes such as ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards.
• Layout and detail projects under supervision of the Engineer of Record.
• Provide CAD drawings or sketches for Designers/Drafters.
• Research design options and document findings for Engineer of Record.
• Review shop drawings and ensure conformance with drawings.
• Lead engineer on assigned projects and supervise other engineers as needed.
• Coordinate with Designers/Drafters to create project drawings.
• Attend client meetings and participate in project reviews.
• Perform field observations and verify measurements in project areas.
• Draft and coordinate technical documents and project deliverables.
• Serve as project engineer and lead design/engineering efforts.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, and professionals on construction plans.
