Job summary

BDO USA, LLP in Chicago is seeking a Tax Manager for Core Tax Services to advise clients on the tax implications of business objectives and optimize compliance. You will act as the primary client contact for complex tax issues and contribute to marketing, networking, and business development in your area of expertise.

Responsibilities include leading tax compliance, research, and ASC 740 analysis, while guiding associates and seniors.

Qualifications

• Five (5) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, required
• Prior supervisory experience, required
• Industry expertise in one or more tax specialty, preferred
• CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or EA (or equivalent) required
• Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role, preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in tax compliance and planning for client engagements to minimize burden and ensure policy adherence
• Reviews tax returns and ASC 740 analyses and communicates results to clients and Assurance teams
• Plans engagement processes including budgeting, staffing, billing, and collections
• Manages client relationships and sets expectations for deliverables and timelines
• Develops written tax advice and serves as primary client contact for complex issues
• Supervises associates and seniors, training them in tools and processes
