Job summary

Oil States Industries in Houma, LA is seeking a Purchasing Agent to manage procurement of goods, supplies, equipment and services in line with company policy. You will analyze requisitions, source suppliers, solicit bids, negotiate prices, issue purchase orders, and coordinate with engineering, quality and accounting to ensure on-time delivery and compliant purchasing.

You will work independently, build long-term supplier relationships at appropriate management levels, and support cost

Qualifications

• Two years purchasing or inventory experience in a similar industry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of computers and software.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Capable of understanding and interpreting drawings.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze purchase requisitions.
• Investigate and develop sources of supply.
• Prepare and solicit bids.
• Negotiate for the purchase of goods, supplies, equipment and services.
• Prepare purchase orders and distribute to suppliers and requesting departments.
• Communicate sourcing requirements and resolve issues with vendors.
• Support procurement strategies to meet cost objectives and ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain supplier relationships and coordinate with other departments.
• Perform administrative duties for the purchasing function.
• Work independently with little supervision.
