Job summary

Gulf Island LLC in Houma, LA is seeking a Technical Purchasing Agent to source and procure equipment, parts and services for ongoing projects. You will review drawings and BOMs to determine purchasing needs, analyze supplier quotes and negotiate terms to ensure cost effectiveness and timely delivery.

Responsibilities include issuing purchase orders, maintaining supplier relationships, and coordinating with engineering, maintenance and operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience.
• Ability to read technical drawings, specifications and BOMs.
• Knowledge of procurement practices, vendor management and contract negotiation.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure technical equipment, parts, materials and services.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications and BOMs to determine purchasing needs.
• Obtain and analyze supplier quotations, pricing, lead times and product specs.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery schedules and terms with vendors.
• Issue purchase orders and monitor order status to ensure on-time delivery.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, operations and project teams regarding procurement requirements.
• Evaluate supplier performance related to quality, delivery, responsiveness and cost.
• Resolve purchasing issues, discrepancies, invoice variances and vendor claims.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation in ERP systems.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist in replenishment planning.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards and contractual requirements.
