Job summary

Gulf Island is seeking a Technical Purchasing Agent to source, evaluate and purchase technical equipment, materials and services to support operations. You will work with engineering, maintenance and suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement meeting specs and project needs.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in purchasing or procurement, strong ERP and Excel experience, and proven negotiation and supplier-management skills in industrial settings.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in an industrial, manufacturing, energy or technical environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and BOMs.
• Knowledge of procurement practices, vendor management and contract negotiation.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure technical equipment, parts, materials and services per requirements.
• Review drawings, specifications and BOMs to determine purchasing needs.
• Obtain and analyze supplier quotations, pricing, lead times and specs.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery schedules and terms with vendors.
• Issue purchase orders and monitor status for on-time delivery.
• Maintain supplier relationships and coordinate with project teams.
