Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Power System Planning & Study Engineer to join our Power Delivery team in North America. The role focuses on coordinating development of the Power System Planning & Study group and performing HVDC/HVAC planning studies, interconnection analyses, and system studies for clients in North America and beyond.

You will work with Substation, Transmission, and Protection & Control groups, collaborating with other Arcadis divisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of direct experience within power system study analysis and planning.
• Proficient with the PSS®E software package, including load‑flow, short‑circuit and transient stability analysis. Experience with alternative planning software applications, including TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools, is highly desirable
• Familiar with key North American Market Operators (i.e. MISO, PJM, NE‑ISO, NY‑ISO, CAISO, ERCOT, SSP, AESO, IESO) policies, guidelines, regulations, rules, requirements and criteria as applicable to grid interconnection, performance and planning, especially related to bulk power systems.

Responsibilities

• Support, develop, and deliver various complex power system study & planning project within regulated, non-regulated, developer, or other industrial clients
• Perform and review power systems analysis activities including load‑flow, short‑circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small‑signal stability analysis, system impact study, reliability analysis etc.
• Perform planning/system performance studies and transient studies for compliance with prevailing standards and criteria and good engineering practice.
• Delivery of accurate and thorough planning, studies, system design, report summary and other client system study deliverables that will meet industry standards and specifications and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability.
• Responsible for QA on client reports and deliverables
• Maintaining close coordination and help other relevant Arcadis Business Units and Practices for cross selling and cross staffing opportunities. As well as Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
