Job summary

Ace Electric is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead our payroll function across multiple states. Reporting to the Controller, you will oversee operations, ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with project requirements in a fast-paced construction environment.

This strategic role focuses on process improvement, system optimization, reporting, and team development. You will partner with Accounting, HR, Operations, and field leadership to strengthen controls and deliver timely,

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressive payroll experience.
• At least two years in payroll leadership or supervision.
• Experience with certified payroll and Davis‑Bacon requirements.
• Strong knowledge of multi‑state payroll, taxes, wage and hour laws, deductions, garnishments, and reporting.
• Ability to lead teams, improve processes, and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop payroll team members.
• Oversee payroll operations for a large, multi‑state workforce.
• Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable requirements.
• Monitor payroll workflows, deadlines, reporting, audits, and service levels.
• Strengthen timekeeping controls and reconciliations.
• Partner with Accounting, HR, Operations and project teams to align payroll with job costing and reporting.
• Support payroll system administration and data integrity.
