Job summary

Ascent Structural is seeking a proactive Buyer to join our Purchasing team. You will procure materials, manage purchase orders, verify pricing and delivery, and collaborate with suppliers to meet production needs.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, data-driven, and able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Willingness to travel between Portland, TN and Scottsboro, AL is required.

Qualifications

• Strong Excel skills and data analysis required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field.
• Experience in purchasing, procurement, or manufacturing.
• ERP/MRP or purchasing systems experience preferred.
• Ability to work with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Purchase materials, products, and services based on production and operational requirements.
• Issue and maintain purchase orders and verify pricing, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, order status, and delivery schedules.
• Monitor open purchase orders and proactively address potential shortages or late deliveries.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotes and assist with cost comparisons and sourcing decisions.
• Work with suppliers to resolve pricing, quality, quantity, and delivery discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information.
• Analyze purchasing data, pricing, usage, and other information using Microsoft Excel.
• Work closely with Production, Inventory, Accounting, Estimating, and other departments to support company requirements.
• Assist with inventory management and material planning as needed.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
• Support supplier performance evaluations and sourcing initiatives.
• Assist with additional purchasing and supply chain projects as assigned.
