Job summary

Steel Technologies LLC is seeking a purchasing professional to manage demand-aligned buys, supplier relations, and inventory targets. You will work with Support Team and Operations to optimize procurement and ensure timely fulfillment of customer requirements.

The role focuses on evaluating demand, lead times, and material yields, while expediting orders when needed and supporting production efficiency. Office-based in Louisville with collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in a related field with at least two years of sales, purchasing, or customer service experience in manufacturing.
• Formal education may be substituted with experience and training when competency in the position is demonstrated.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer requirements, forecast, and internal/external lead-times; align buy with demand to avoid excess inventory and unnecessary mill buys.
• Review slow-moving and obsolete inventory and collaborate with Support Team to drive resolution.
• Collaborate within Support Team and operations to develop and execute strategies to ensure customer requirements are met, inventory targets are maintained, and support production efficiency.
• Weekly Inventory Management Report (IMR)/Material Requirements Planning (MRP) review for all accounts to ensure effective supply chain management.
• Place/change purchase orders and set up new Base Items/Purchase Part Specs as needed.
